About Botshabelo
Our story
We aim to transform women and children's lives by giving them the best start in life through
great care and education.
Botshabelo is a Tswana word meaning a ‘place to run to’ and was established as an NPO in Midrand near Johannesburg, South Africa in 2000. Botshabelo began with members of Urban Life Church responding to the needs of our local community and the call to be a ‘Place of Refuge’ for those hurting in our city.
Over the years Botshabelo’s vision has been refined and put solidly as a stake in the ground – our vision is to impact the lives of children that need it most.
Be it through education or residential care, we want to set children up with the best start in life. Right now, our three programs are achieving this vision!
The Babies Home was started in March of 2000 and our two education programs (UpliftED and Urban Kids) were started in 2010. As a multifaceted charity, we are passionate about transforming children’s lives through excellent residential care and education.
Botshabelo is a registered Non-Profit Organisation with separate financial accounting and annual auditing. Botshabelo also has Public Benefit Organisation status which allows individuals and companies to receive a tax rebate for any donations given to Botshabelo.
B-BBEE points for Enterprise Development and Skills Development are also available through Botshabelo.
With the help of friends like you, we reach over 4 000 beneficiaries every year!
Feel free to get in touch with us if you would like to partner in any way.
