A Word From Our Most Recent Volunteer, Amy Leigh Howarth (17)

"I’m Amy, I’m from England and I have been in South Africa volunteering with Botshabelo for three weeks now. Everyone here is really friendly and welcoming and the area itself has a great atmosphere.
Working with the children in the Babies Home is so much fun, they are a real great bunch! The hard thing about working here is probably the 6am morning shift…It’s not bad, I’ve just never been good at waking up!
If you are coming to volunteer, my best advice would probably be… Drink lots of water and take vitamins as it is easier to get ill here as we are not used to South African bugs! Even if you don’t get sick its often still a good idea.
As I said it’s only my 3rd week and I’m having such a great time!"
