Botshabelo Babies Home opened in March 2000 in response to the plight of babies being abandoned in hospitals or left to die due to poverty and HIV.
Our heart has always been to provide a loving, caring, homely environment. Over 180 children have been cared for in the Babies Home over the years and we typically have 12 – 14 children in the home. We aim to address each child’s needs and enable them to grow to their full potential, spiritually, physically, intellectually and emotionally. Long term, we actively try to get every child placed in a “Forever Family”, through adoption or reunification.
We have seen huge success through our “Stimulation and Development Program”. Through the dedication of an additional caregiver to overseeing each child’s growth we help ensure each child reaches their developmental milestones on time.
I love my job because I get to know the most important people in life before they become important.

International volunteers have come from all across the globe to stay with us here at Botshabelo. Many local volunteers help us weekly, adding value in our home too. Volunteers are invaluable to the work we do as they assist us in giving individualized care and attention to each child.
We are grateful for each and every volunteer – such a sacrifice does not go unnoticed. To find out more, please visit our volunteer page »
