Community Based Child Care

The Community Based Child Care (CBCC) was a program that reached out to children in the local community of Olievenhoutbosch. We are working alongside multiple crèches, or preschools, in the community, enabling them to provide quality care for the children including basic education, stimulation and good nutrition.

We are empowering the crèches in many ways. We do much of the work through the Creche Teachers Forum. The aim of the Creche Teaches Forum is to build a spirit of togetherness. It also allows us to make sure that all the teachers are working according to the standards of the Child Care Act. The Forum gives us an opportunity to evenly distribute donations of toys, desks, etc. amongst all the crèches.

We also work closely with the vulnerable children within the community. Our two crèche monitors watch for signs of abuse, neglect and need. These assessments are then communicated to the overall Botshabelo leadership team. The team strives to find solutions for these situations that will empower and strengthen families in the community.
