Deloitte Impact Day

Deloitte hosted a fun day for around 800 children from the Philena Primary School at the iKya property. There was the sounds of childrens laughter and shouting all morning as they enjoyed the different activity stations. There were 10 jumping castles, a craft station, ball games and a dance station. The morning was very well organized with children in groups moving between the stations and all getting a chance to enjoy the different activities on offer.

New Home of Destiny!

We have opened a home for our older children! Christine Dettman is the Housemother and we have moved the first two children, Lesedi and Zizi in with her. It is quite a challenge and a lot of adjusting is going on at present for all concerned! It is wonderful to see how these two little ones are already blossoming and growing in confidence after only a few weeks in a "normal" home!

Midrand University PR students host party at Babies Home

Bokamoso, a group of Midrand University PR students held a party this week for the Babies Home children and they had sourced donations of a fridge and storage containers for the home. They are continuing to source items from the “needs list” and are a very enthusiastic team. Taylor Lyall: Volunteer Township Teacher

I’m officially done volunteering for Botshabelo. It’s been a really great year. Well, 11 months to be exact. God has done a lot, most of which I probably won't ever see.  I taught 1st grade for nine months at a crèche that Botshabelo runs in the community of Olievenhoutbosch.  Even though I wasn’t a trained teacher, it was amazing to see how far these kids came in this school year.

Babies Home Children enjoy meal at well-known South African Family Restaurant

Recently a family took all our children and all our caregivers to our local Spur as a treat. This is what Lizzie Makhalemela, one of our caregivers, had to say to the family:

Toddler returns to his family!

On Monday, little Thabiso left for Zimbabwe with his aunt to return to his maternal family. His aunt has been saving to return home and she spent a few days visiting with him before setting off on a bus journey home. He will be introduced to his granny, who is anxious to meet him, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and possibly even some siblings! Although he has only been with us for a short 4 months, he has already crept into everyone’s hearts but we trust that God will continue to watch over him and that he will impact his community as he grows older.

Welcome to some of our recent international volunteers!

A special welcome to Gwyn van Schaik (Canada), Berdieke and Patricia Timmer (Netherlands) and Lauren Wright (UK). Thank you for your generosity! Hope you guys have a wonderful stay here.
