Supporting the #purplepeloton…

momentum_947_cycle_challenge 1901962_673420702722844_2085156339_n The year is flying by and there is still so much that we plan to accomplish before the end of it! By far the biggest funding project on our calendar is our Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge charity team ride – better known as our Ride for a Future campaign. Last year’s Cycle Challenge was focused on raising money for Botshabelo’s Teacher Training programme and it turned into a hugely successful endeavour. We raised over R60 000 in funds, thanks to not only individual contributions but also fantastic corporate sponsorships. We really hope to be able to build on that momentum for this year’s campaign – Funding for our Babies Home. Over 150 children have been cared for in the Babies Home over the past 14 years since we opened our doors and we typically have 12 – 15 children at any one time in the home. We are passionate about ultimately placing each child with their “Forever Family” either through reunification, fostering or adoption. As is always the case with a non-profit organisation, we depend on you and others like you to be able keep our doors open and do the work we so love doing in our community. We have 30 brave riders on our team to ride the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge already, and we hope to recruit quite a few more before race day in November. Each rider has a fundraising target of R3000. This could be quite daunting – especially for our first-timers, however we at Botshabelo want to do as much as possible from our side to support our riders in reaching their targets – because their success is of course our success! Here’s where you come in… Our “Ride for a Future” campaign provides you with the opportunity to jump in with both feet and make a difference without even touching a bicycle! Simply sponsoring a rider will make a huge impact no matter what you decide to give. Your positive effort could be the reason for even greater success in our children’s’ lives. There are several ways you can go about sponsoring the Purple Peloton:

  • First of all – you can click here to view our banking details and donate to the campaign. If you are sponsoring a specific rider, please use their name + 94.7 as the reference. If you are not backing a particular rider, but rather donating to the campaign, please use the reference Purplepeloton.
  • Second, simply make the donation directly to the rider – they will make sure we receive it.
  • Third, some riders have created a Back-a-Buddy profile, where you can make safe, online and easy payments to their fundraising campaign. Go to as well.
  • Lastly, please join us for our spinnathon events in the next month or two where you get to sponsor us by sponsoring yourself! We benefit while you get fit! (More info on dates and times for the events to follow soon)

The Botshabelo Babies’ home is a safe haven for so many who were once without hope but thanks to the kindness and generosity of our cyclists, sponsors and donors; they can now look forward to greatness, joy and success. We are tremendously excited about the inevitable success of our 2014 Ride for a Future campaign in aid of our Babies Home! Thanks for your support!
